Black Lives Matter

Do you know what is happening in the USA at the moment?

People are protesting against racism.

They are furious because George Floyd is dead.

He is the victim of police violence against the black community in the USA.

Around the world, people are protesting too, breaking statues of racist people in history.

Who is George Floyd?

George Floyd is a black American man.

He is 46 years old.

He lives in Minneapolis, in the state of Indiana in the USA.

He is from Houston in Texas.

He has 5 children: 2 daughters and 3 sons.

He is a truck-driver and a security agent in a restaurant and a bar but he loses this job during the Covid-19 pandemic.

On Monday, May 25th 2020, he stops at a shop to buy some cigarets. He pays with a $20 banknote but the employee thinks it's a false banknote so he calls the police.

George Floyd's arrestation is very violent and a police-officer stays 8 minutes and 46 seconds with his knee on the man's neck.

George Floyd tells them 'It's hurting', 'don't kill me' or 'I can't breathe' many times but the police-officer doesn't move!

The poor man will die there, in the street, with people shooting the scene with their smart phones.

After his death, and after all the world can see the videos of his death, protests against police violence against the blacks and racism in general  start all around the world.
