William the Conqueror

 

 

Hardrada invaded Northern England, near York, in September. So King Harold and the English army went to the North and defeated the Norwegians on September 25th. 

On September 28th, William arrived in the South, near Hastings. So King Harold walked 400 km South. The Battle of Hastings took place on October 14th.

Harold‘s men were tired. It was a difficult battle. Harold died and William won. He became King in London on Christmas Day. Today, William is known as William the Conqueror.
