Agatha Christie is a British mystery writer. She was born in Torquay, England on September 15th, 1890. When she was 16, she moved to Paris and studied the piano.

In 1914 she married Colonel Archibald Christie, an aviator in the Royal Flying Corps. They had one daughter, Rosalind. They divorced in 1928.

She published her first novel in 1920. Agatha Christie wrote 79 novels and short story collections in 50 years. Her most famous fictional creation is Hercule Poirot, a Belgian detective.

Agatha Christie received the Order of Dame Commander of the British Empire in 1971.

She died on January 12th, 1976. She is called ‘the Queen of Crime’.
