Jane the Virgin is an American romantic dramedy, which means it's a drama and a comedy at the same time.

The series started on October 13, 2014 and finished on July 31, 2019. 

It is an adaptation of a Venezuelan series.

The series stars Gina Rodriguez as Jane Villanueva, a devout 23-year-old Latina virgin, who becomes pregnant after an accidental artificial insemination by her gynecologist. 

At the 72nd Golden Globe Awards, Gina Rodriguez won the award for Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy. 

The series is set in Miami where Jane promises to save her virginity until marriage until a doctor makes a mistake and inseminates her during a checkup. 

Moreover, the biological father is a married man, a former playboy, and a cancer survivor who is not only the new owner of the hotel where Jane works, but was also her former teenage crush.
