Written Comprehension

The play starts in a very strange shop, where two very shady shop assistants - James and Bonnie - operate… 

A penniless boy called Matt wants to buy a present for his girlfriend Aoife. 

Instead of offering her a ring, a necklace or even a very expensive pen, he has no choice, because of his empty wallet, to buy her something different: a teapot. 

But not just any teapot…Oh no! This teapot has a genie inside… It can make their most desired wishes come true. 

But this genie will only appear for those with a brave heart... 

And it works! With each wish, the two young lovers are dragged into a new swirling adventure… 

But the shop boss, Oscar, realises that his two salesmen have made an unforgivable mistake! 

They have sold the teapot with the genie inside that he was keeping for his wife Meena, the cruel Meena!

The story takes place in Ireland, a country full of legends.

At the origin, Ireland was peopled by the Celts and druids believed in the sun and nature under Roman domination. They opposed Christianity. But in the 4th century, Saint Patrick, an English priest came to convert the Irish to Christianity. A legend says Saint Patrick drove the snakes out of the country. That’s why there are no snakes in Ireland today!

Another very famous Irish legend is the Leprechaun: they are small magic creatures who have a hidden pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. If someone captures them, they often grant three wishes in exchange for their freedom.

Global comprehension: look at the poster and read the text
