The Infinitive form

 

Il existe 2 formes infinitives en anglais : celle avec TO avant la Base Verbale ( TO VB) et celle juste avec la Base Verbale (VB)

 

 

 

 

 

I want to go to Paris.

She can play rugby.

She hopes to succeed.

You'd better come now!

She prefers to say no.

He makes me feel sad.

They would like to come.

I'll let you do it next week.    

It's time for you to get there.

I could see her smile.

My school is not very far for me to walk.

They heard you shout.

 

 

 

A la forme négative, NOT doit toujours précéder le verbe sur lequel il porte.

I expect him not to go.

I don't want to go to Paris.

She prefers not to leave early.

She can't sing.

They'd better not steal from their parents.

 

 

 

Exercise 1: Choose between Verbal Base and To + Verbal Base
