C'est un mot-outil qui veut dire "Il y a" dans un complément de temps.

Il est source d'erreur car :

  • il ne fonctionne pas comme le français : il se met à la fin du complément
  • on le confond facilement avec "There" is qui veut aussi dire "il y a"

 

 

 

 

Pour savoir combien de temps ça fait que telle ou telle chose a eu lieu, on utilise "HOW LONG AGO".

- How long ago did you arrive in London? 

- I arrived 3 weeks ago.

 

La question avec WHEN peut aussi être utilisée pour une réponse avec AGO.

- When did he start playing? 

- Oh, not long, 2 minutes ago!
