San Francisco is situated on the west coast of the United States of America. 

It’s in California, more than 600 kilometers north of Los Angeles.

It is located on a peninsula and the city streches between the Pacific Ocean and the Bay of San Francisco.

It is nicknamed The City by the Bay.

In the bay, the former fort and prison Alcatraz is one of the most interesting excursions. 

No prisoner managed to escape this island alive and it inspired a lot of films.

In the 1960s, it was there that the Hippie movement appeared. 

Demonstrations against the Vietnam War spread all over the country from this very peaceful city.

Today, San Francisco is still very modern and liberal and an important homosexual community lives there. 

They have a special flag called the Rainbow flag that you can see almost everywhere on the windows of the city.
