Definitions

citizenship ► The status of being a citizen of a country, with rights and duties.

a citizen ► A person who legally belongs to a particular country.

a member of a particular country ► A person who belongs to a specific country.

a state ► A country or political area with its own government.

civil rights ► The basic rights that protect people’s freedom and equality.

legal rights ► Rights that are protected by law.

responsibility ► Something that you are expected or required to do.

democracy ► A system of government in which people choose their representatives by voting.

public opinion ► What most people think about a particular subject.

public debate ► A discussion about an important issue involving different opinions.

rights and duties ► The things people are allowed to do and the things they are expected to do.

digital citizenship ► Using digital technology in a responsible and respectful way.

fake news ► False or misleading information presented as real news.

digital activism ► Using the Internet and digital tools to support a cause or create change.

an activist ► A person who takes action to support a cause or create change.

a strike ► A period when workers stop working to protest or demand change.

unemployment ► The situation of not having a job while looking for one.
